What is white coffee?
White coffee is different by design. It looks lighter, tastes smoother, and brews differently than traditional coffee, and at Gravity Coffee, it’s been a staple across our drive-thru and café locations for years. Our white coffee is roasted at a lower temperature and for a shorter amount of time than our signature blend. While our traditional coffee is roasted longer and darker, our white coffee reaches a maximum temperature of about 335°F and takes roughly half the time to roast.
This process keeps the beans very light in color and creates a naturally nutty, smooth, and low-bitterness flavor. It is fully roasted coffee, just stopped much earlier in the roasting process.
White Coffee Brewing Methods
Discover the different techniques for brewing white coffee to perfection.
This is the easiest way to brew white coffee at home.
Steps:
- Add Gravity Coffee white coffee grounds to your filter.
- Fill the water reservoir as you normally would.
- Brew as you would any drip coffee.
- Expect a lighter-colored cup. This is normal.
- Taste and adjust to preference with milk, cream, or flavor.
White coffee brewed this way will be smooth and mild rather than bold.
This is one of the most popular methods to brew white coffee, and is how we serve it in our cafés.
Steps:
- Use Gravity Coffee white coffee in your espresso machine or compatible brewer.
- Pull a shot as you would with traditional espresso.
- Serve as a straight shot or use it as a base for lattes or specialty drinks.
- Add milk or flavor if desired.
This method produces a richer, more concentrated flavor and is ideal for those who prefer a stronger cup.
Pour-over allows for more control and highlights our white coffee’s nutty character.
Steps:
- Place a paper filter in your pour-over brewer and rinse it with hot water.
- Add white coffee grounds to the filter.
- Slowly pour hot water over the grounds in a circular motion.
- Allow the coffee to fully drain before serving.
- Adjust to taste with milk or flavor if desired.
The resulting cup will be clean, smooth, and lightly bodied.
White coffee can also be brewed in a French press for a slightly fuller mouthfeel.
Steps:
- Add white coffee grounds to the French press.
- Pour hot water over the grounds.
- Stir gently and place the lid on top.
- Allow the coffee to steep.
- Press the plunger slowly and serve.
This method emphasizes texture while keeping bitterness low.

Grinding & Equipment Notes
White coffee beans are much harder and denser than traditionally roasted beans due to the lighter roast. This can be tough on home grinders.
For that reason, our white coffee is sold pre-ground and ready to brew, so you don’t need to worry about damaging equipment or inconsistent results.

Beyond the Roast: Crafted by Our Head Roaster
All of our coffee is roasted by Danny, Gravity Coffee’s Head Roaster. Danny has been with Gravity Coffee since its founding in 2016, becoming the roaster behind every cup served across our locations today.
